New Zealand Scholarship Eligibility
- Full New Zealand Scholarship applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Exception: Samoa scholars can be 17 at the start of their scholarship.
- There is no upper age limit; 18 and over can apply.
- Preference for applicants under 40 for university or tertiary students.

Postgraduate English Requirements

- PTE Academic score of 58 with a communicative skills score of 50.
- Advanced Cambridge Academic English score of 176 overall, with no bands below 169.
Undergraduate qualification requirements
- 6.0 on the IELTS with a 5.5 band.
- 80 on the TOEFL and a 21 writing score.
- PTE Academic score of 50 plus a 42 for communication skills.
- Overall score of 169 for Cambridge Academic English (advanced), with no bands below 162.
Scholarship Contribution to a Country’s Development
- Scholars are expected to contribute to the country’s social and economic development for two years post-study.
- Selection is based on the applicant’s clear plan to enhance the country’s development.
Scholar’s Home Country Residency Requirements
- Applicants must reside in their home country for two years before study starts.
- Diplomatic assignment applicants and their dependents are exempt from this requirement.
Scholarship application requirements
- A meaningful job experience is a prerequisite for both mature undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
- Work experience can be paid, unpaid, or voluntary.
- Criteria: One year of full-time work experience (30+ hours per week) or two years of part-time work experience (up to 29 hours per week).
- Preference is given to applicants aligning with their current work experience and those intending to continue in their current job sector post-scholarship.
